About Coach

I’m an older athlete and led a fairly sedentary lifestyle until my early 40’s. Something changed at this point, and I joined a local gym, where I attended your normal range of classes. At this time I started cycling, swimming and running. I even joined a running club. Logic dictated that I should join these activities together, and I started competing in triathlon. Since then I have competed in 2 half iron distance triathlons (Zell-am-zee & Nottingham), 3 marathons (Penang, Edinburgh & Nottingham) & numerous half marathons (including Key Largo & Calgary). As well as completing cycling events, I have also cycled in the Alps a number of times. Swim highlights include Drakes Island swim & the Castle to Castle in Falmouth. In 2017, and bored with my current fitness journey, I started CrossFit. On my CrossFit journey I have competed in a few competitions, and have been lucky enough to go to Madison and watch the CrossFit Games in 2019.

Turning Point

I passed a CrossFit Box, daily, on my way to work, but was too scared to enter, based on things friends had told me about CrossFit. In 2017 I finally plucked up the courage to enter. This is probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and wish I had done it sooner! The challenges of a different workout every day, and so many skills to learn, develop and continuously improve upon reignited a love of fitness and my fitness journey. The CrossFit community is a fantastically supportive group of individuals. There is no judgement made on other members capabilities. It is your fitness journey. There are also many competitions, locally and further afield, a few of which I have competed in. For the first time I also worked with a performance nutritionist, via the box I was a member of, and learned some life changing nutrition skills, which 3 years later still form the basis of my nutrition. I am fitter, leaner and healthier now, than I have ever been.

Motivation & Passion

My aim is to share my passion for CrossFit with as many people as I can. I love to see the members of the Box improve and grow fitter & stronger. To be able to assist on part of that journey by coaching and supporting them gives me a huge amount of satisfaction. It is great to be a part of a brilliant coaching team, at a fantastic CrossFit Box, who all want the box to be the best it can be for its members.
